Day by Day
Day 1
Upon arrival at Lusaka International Airport, you’ll be collected and transferred to the Zambia Safari Company Bed & Breakfast, or another nearby facility. Settle in and relax after your flight.
Day 2
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll begin your journey westward to Kafue River Lodge, located in the northern region of the park. The drive is scenic and immersive—think of it as a rolling introduction to the bush. On arrival, we recommend an afternoon boat cruise to ease into the safari rhythm.
Day 3
Begin your day with a scrumptious breakfast before heading out on a morning game drive. In the afternoon, you’ll embark on another game drive that flows into a night drive, offering a chance to see the area’s nocturnal wildlife.
Day 4
After breakfast, we’ll transfer you to the famed Busanga Plains—one of Africa’s top wildlife destinations. You’ll be hosted by Northern Kafue Safaris at Kasanso Camp, set right in the heart of this extraordinary ecosystem. On arrival, a night drive will introduce you to the area’s rich predator activity.
Day 5 & 6
Spend two full days exploring the vast, wildlife-rich Busanga Plains, tracking predators like lion and cheetah, and observing large herds of buffalo, antelope, and seasonal birdlife. The sweeping vistas here are unforgettable, especially at dawn and dusk.
Day 7 & 8
After breakfast on day seven, you’ll transfer by road to Lufupa Airstrip, then take a boat transfer over to Musakese Camp. On arrival, a relaxing afternoon boat cruise is recommended.
The next day, begin with a guided walking safari, followed by lunch, rest, and an afternoon or night drive. Musakese is known for its intimate connection with the wild and exceptional guiding.
Day 9
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred back across the river to meet the Zambia Safari Company vehicle, which will take you further south to Kaingu Lodge. The final leg is a scenic boat transfer downriver to the lodge. For your first afternoon, we suggest a walk up Mpamba Rock for a breathtaking sundowner.
Day 10
Enjoy a morning game drive in Kafue National Park, followed by a relaxing afternoon boat cruise. The lodge is beautifully run, the food is consistently excellent, and the riverside setting is serene.
Day 11
After a delicious breakfast, you’ll head further south to Lake Camp, set on the shores of Lake Tejitiji. Here, you’ll spend the next three nights enjoying an entirely different biome and pace of safari.
Days 11, 12 & 13
These days will be filled with walking safaris, game drives, and explorations through the diverse habitats—from Mopane woodland to teak forests and the rich lakeshore ecosystems. The area teems with game and offers a quiet, off-grid safari experience.
Day 14
On your final morning, after breakfast, we’ll transfer you back to Lusaka, returning to the Zambia Safari Company B&B or a similar nearby facility. If you prefer, we can arrange a direct transfer to the airport to connect with your international flight the same day.
