Three Rivers Safari
Overview
This expertly curated 17-day safari takes you on a breathtaking journey through three of Zambia’s most iconic river ecosystems: the Kafue, Zambezi, and Luangwa. Your adventure begins in Lusaka, with a restful overnight stay to ease into the journey. You’ll then head north to Kasonso Camp and Kafue River Lodge, both operated by Northern Kafue Safaris, where you’ll experience contrasting biomes, from the Busanga floodplains to the lush riverine forests—ideal for walking safaris, cycling, boating, and fishing.
The safari continues in the Lower Zambezi at Kutali Camp, where the Classic Zambia team welcomes you to explore the river by boat, canoe, or vehicle, and discover its rich birdlife and thriving game along the banks.
From there, you’ll fly to South Luangwa, staying at Flatdogs Camp, a long-standing partner known for its exceptional hospitality, top-tier guiding, and prime location on the park’s edge. Finally, you’ll return to Ciela Resort near Lusaka for a relaxing final night to reflect on your journey—with fine dining and optional golf to close your adventure in style.

Day by Day
Day 1
We will collect you from Lusaka International Airport and transfer you to the Zambia Safari Company Cottage, or a similar facility nearby, where you’ll stay on a bed and breakfast basis. This gives you a gentle start to your journey, with time to relax after your flight.
Days 2-4
After breakfast, we’ll transfer you by road to Kusonso Camp, deep in the wild north of Kafue National Park. Here, the experienced guides of Northern Kafue Safaris will host you in this tremendously epic wilderness. These three days will be filled with exciting game drives, peaceful bush moments, and the kind of remote safari experience that’s becoming increasingly rare.
Days 5-7
Following your time in Busanga, we’ll transfer you south to Kafue River Lodge, nestled in a completely different biome along the riverbanks. This part of the journey offers an entirely new perspective of Kafue—lush, green, and bursting with life. Activities here include walking safaris, cycling, boating, and fishing, all enjoyed under the same warm hospitality of the Northern Kafue Safaris team.
Day 8
After breakfast, we will transfer you by road back to Lusaka, where you’ll overnight at Sandys Creations, a comfortable and well-located stopover before your Lower Zambezi adventure begins.
Days 9-12
In the morning, we’ll take you to Lusaka Airport for your charter flight to Jeki Airstrip in the Lower Zambezi. There, the Classic Zambia team will meet you and transfer you by road to Kutali Camp. We recommend a boat cruise on your arrival day to settle into the rhythm of the river. Over the next three days, you’ll enjoy a full range of activities including walking, driving, boating, and canoeing, all in the rich and scenic environment of the Lower Zambezi.
Day 13
After breakfast, you’ll either fly or drive back to Lusaka, where you’ll spend the night at Ciela Resort. This is a great opportunity to unwind with excellent dining options. If time allows, you might even enjoy a round of golf on the resort’s beautifully maintained course.
Days 14-16
Following breakfast, we’ll transfer you to Lusaka Airport for your charter flight to Mfuwe Airstrip. On arrival, the Flatdogs team will meet and transfer you to camp. Set just outside South Luangwa National Park, Flatdogs offers superb access to one of Africa’s premier game-viewing areas. The camp is known for its scrumptious food, well-stocked bar, lush grounds, and excellent guiding. It’s a well-run, welcoming lodge we’ve worked with for many years.
Day 17
We’ll transfer you by road to Mfuwe Airport, where you’ll catch a charter flight back to Lusaka. You’ll spend your final night at Ciela Resort, again on a bed and breakfast basis, giving you the freedom to choose from the excellent restaurants on site as you reflect on an incredible Zambian safari.
